Threat Modeling

Threat modeling is a systematic process used in cybersecurity to identify, assess, and prioritize potential vulnerabilities and risks in a given system, network, or application. The primary aim is to provide a structured framework for understanding an asset's attack surface, the likely attackers, and the various methods they might employ to compromise the system. Security teams, software developers, and system architects commonly employ threat modeling during the design and development phases to build more secure systems. By simulating potential attack scenarios and identifying weak points, organizations can proactively implement countermeasures and security controls to mitigate risks, thereby reducing the likelihood of a successful cyber attack.
