Mistrust refers to a lack of confidence or faith in someone or something, often stemming from experiences or information that suggest unreliability or deceit. In both personal relationships and broader societal contexts, mistrust can act as a barrier to cooperation, open communication, and collective action. Whether due to broken promises, inconsistent behavior, or a history of dishonesty, mistrust complicates interactions and requires individuals to exercise caution and skepticism.
